Senior Data Scientist (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote in the United States or Seattle, WA; hybrid and remote work models are available.

Salary: $165,000–$180,000 per year, plus bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Analyze large-scale network telemetry to identify behavioral patterns, anomalies, and signals associated with malicious activity.
• Design, develop, and refine machine learning and AI methods for cybersecurity products.
• Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model development, and detailed error analysis on complex, high-volume datasets.
• Develop evaluation methods, metrics, and monitoring strategies for imbalanced data, incomplete labels, rare events, and changing attacker behavior.
• Collaborate with threat researchers and software engineers to integrate research and prototypes into reliable production capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship through code reviews, design discussions, technical strategy, documentation, and engineering standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional data science experience developing and evaluating machine learning models for real-world use cases.
• Strong foundation in statistics, experimental design, machine learning, model evaluation, and success metrics.
• Experience with incomplete, noisy, or highly imbalanced data, including analysis of false positives and false negatives.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using common data science and machine learning libraries and writing maintainable, tested code.
• Experience collaborating with software engineers to integrate data science methods into production systems and communicating technical findings to varied audiences.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline.
• Experience applying data science or machine learning to cybersecurity, fraud detection, abuse detection, anomaly detection, or another adversarial domain.
• Familiarity with Network Detection and Response, network protocols, threat detection, or incident investigation.
• Experience with time-series analysis, behavioral modeling, clustering, graph analytics, or unsupervised and semi-supervised learning.
• Experience with generative AI, large language models, agentic systems, or cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
