Data Science Manager (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; flexible hybrid work model

Salary: $207,000–$304,000 base salary annually, plus bonus, equity, and benefits

What you will do

• Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of data scientists.
• Partner with engineering, product, power-system experts, and external partners to translate business goals into data science roadmaps.
• Guide discovery, investigation, curation, and quality control for large and complex datasets.
• Define problem framing, test datasets, business metrics, product metrics, and performance metrics for machine learning systems.
• Lead experimentation, A/B testing, statistical analysis, and exploration of solutions that improve electric grid visibility and resilience.
• Communicate findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership while tracking long-term business impact.

Requirements

• PhD or master’s degree in a quantitative field and 8+ years of experience in technology or the energy industry as a statistician, quantitative analyst, or data scientist.
• 5+ years of directly managing or leading data science and analytics teams, with a record of delivering production-grade data solutions.
• Advanced experience with experimental design, A/B testing, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, and sampling methods.
• Experience with Python, SQL, R, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, and other machine learning frameworks.
• Experience with electric power grid data, electrical network physics, utility data, and machine learning systems.
• Experience building model evaluation tooling and processes for large datasets, plus strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
