Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid schedule with 2–3 onsite days per week

Salary: $47,700–$54,000 per year

What you will do

  • Conduct patient registration interviews and maintain accurate demographic, financial, and personal information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements using payer systems and carrier contacts.
  • Confirm financial clearance and escalate cases to the Financial Clearance team when needed.
  • Assist uninsured and underinsured patients with MassHealth applications, plan selection, and financial assistance programs.
  • Prepare self-pay estimates, explain beneficiary notices and waivers, and collect required deposits or payments.
  • Respond to patient and staff inquiries by phone and email while completing assigned work queues and projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in customer service, hospital or physician offices, referrals, prior authorization, financial counseling, or billing.
  • Basic knowledge of managed care policies, medical terminology, and Epic or other hospital information systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive patient information and meet deadlines with direction.
  • Ability to work onsite in Boston 2–3 days per week is required.
