Financial Counselor (Healthcare)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA; position limited to individuals residing and authorized to work within the United States

Salary: $18.15–$19.40 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Educate patients about inpatient benefits, authorization requirements, and estimated financial liabilities.
• Assess and collect copays, deductibles, coinsurance, previous balances, and balances remaining after financial assistance.
• Complete patient pre-registration, registration, consent, observation, and Medicare-related documentation.
• Verify insurance information and payor authorization, participate in daily call reviews, and support eligibility and charity-care processing.
• Visit patient rooms to identify collection opportunities, document account liabilities, make follow-up calls, and send post-discharge payment letters.
• Run eligibility and census reports and organize outpatient orders in revenue cycle systems.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
• Ability to communicate directly with patients and handle sensitive financial and insurance information.
• Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including the use of AI to improve processes and patient experiences.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States.
