Senior Software Engineer - Backend (AI Roleplays)

Location: Seattle, WA, with on-site work required three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday)

Base compensation: $170,000–$190,000 per year, plus significant equity opportunities

What you will do

• Build the backend services and engine powering AI-native roleplay and learning experiences.
• Design scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable software for enterprise-wide rollouts.
• Develop and integrate applications using large language models and generative AI.
• Work across backend and frontend systems while contributing directly to the user experience.
• Own services end to end and debug complex distributed systems in a fast-moving environment.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to connect technical decisions with user and business outcomes.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience shipping production code.
• Strong backend engineering experience, including scalable and reliable services.
• Experience with LLMs, generative AI, and AI-powered applications.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure on GCP, AWS, or Azure, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or Python, with the ability to debug complex distributed systems.
• Ability to work on-site in Seattle three days per week: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Nice to have

• Experience with speech or audio processing and real-time communication systems.
• Experience with NoSQL databases and Kubernetes.
• Google Cloud Platform experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
