Audit Innovation Principal (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Canada; required to work from the Toronto office three days per week at 351 King Street East.

Salary: CAD 145,000–165,000 annual base salary, plus discretionary bonus and/or commission.

What you will do

• Embed with practitioners and partner accounting and audit firms to observe live engagements, identify workflow challenges, and define opportunities for automation.
• Build and own practical solutions, including AI agents, enhanced capabilities, or new platform functionality.
• Work continuously with engineering and applied science teams to scope solutions, define acceptance criteria, and iterate toward committed outcomes.
• Set practitioner-credibility standards for AI outputs and determine whether results are suitable for use by practising auditors.
• Contribute field-based insight to evaluation frameworks and establish quality benchmarks for audit-context outputs.
• Track emerging AI agent patterns and model capabilities, and travel to client or partner-firm teams when required.

Requirements

• At least eight years of experience in audit, assurance, or accounting.
• Ability to define and defend quality thresholds for AI outputs in audit contexts.
• Hands-on experience building an AI or software solution for a genuine problem, such as an automation, internal tool, prompt-based workflow, or side project.
• Working technical fluency with large language models, prompt engineering, and potentially low-code agent builders or basic scripting.
• Ability to work credibly with both audit practitioners and technical engineering teams.
• Strong initiative, willingness to build in ambiguity, and persistence to refine solutions for reliable live-workflow performance.

• Experience introducing tooling or automation into a traditional firm or team.
• Supporting evidence of a built solution, such as a demo or repository.
