TL;DR
Senior Contracts and Legal Manager (Commercial Operations): Managing and negotiating commercial contracts across Germany and the DACH region with an accent on contract ownership, German legal requirements, data protection, and commercial risk. Focus on drafting and redlining agreements, supporting GDPR and compliance matters, and balancing legal risk with business priorities across international teams.
Location: Hybrid in Germany, ideally within reasonable travelling distance of Wiesbaden or Cologne; office attendance required around 1–2 days per week.

What you will do
- Review, draft, redline, and negotiate commercial contracts, including NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, software purchasing agreements, and related documentation.
- Own contracts end to end, from understanding the commercial deal through negotiation and signature.
- Work with Sales, Delivery, Finance, clients, procurement teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to align contractual documentation with business requirements.
- Support RFPs, tenders, vendor onboarding, compliance questionnaires, and supplier arrangements.
- Support data protection, privacy, GDPR, and other regulatory matters, escalating significant risks and providing recommendations.
- Improve contract systems, knowledge management, templates, playbooks, and legal processes while collaborating across Germany, EMEA, and global Commercial Operations.
Requirements
- Strong experience with commercial contracts in sales and procurement environments, including independent negotiation through signature.
- Experience working with Sales, Delivery, clients, procurement teams, legal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Experience with data protection, privacy, and GDPR, plus a strong understanding of the German legal environment.
- First and Second German State Examinations in law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English.
- Experience working across international teams, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Nice to have
- Experience in a technology or software business, including SaaS, cloud computing, software sales, or software licensing.
- Experience with customer contracts, supplier and subcontractor arrangements, third-party software resale, or multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience developing contract templates, processes, and legal playbooks.
- Familiarity with Atlassian products and related services.
