What you will do
- Own the technical strategy, architecture, roadmap, and engineering direction for the Field Verification platform.
- Move the platform from maintenance mode to a prioritised development roadmap.
- Lead and grow the cross-functional engineering team and hire engineers and Engineering Managers.
- Build trip and route optimisation, task allocation, and capacity management for field officers.
- Own APIs, webhooks, and back-office tools used by internal business units.
- Deliver a native mobile experience and prepare the platform for multi-country expansion.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on production engineering and strong backend depth.
- At least 5 years of engineering leadership experience, including management of Engineering Managers.
- Experience across backend, web, and mobile engineering; backend experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience building platforms used by multiple user groups and internal business units.
- Ability to translate operational requirements into engineering solutions and collaborate with Product and business stakeholders.
- Must be based in Kenya; the role is remote.

- Experience with location or geospatial data and map integrations.
- Experience with route, trip, or delivery optimisation.
- Experience building compliance-focused systems with structured, auditable data.
- Experience with identity, KYC, or verification platforms.
