hirify.global Grenoble is an international molecular structural biology centre working at the interface of structural biology, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and cellular biophysics.

What you will do

• Lead the day-to-day scientific and technical operation of the Eukaryotic Expression Facility.
• Advise users on expression systems and develop tailored solutions for recombinant proteins, protein complexes, and endogenous expression strategies.
• Engineer constructs and cell lines, apply genome-editing strategies, and optimise expression and downstream purification.
• Develop, adopt, and benchmark protocols for protein and protein-complex production for structural and functional studies.
• Manage laboratories, equipment, consumables, maintenance, upgrades, usage records, and facility statistics.
• Train users, contribute to educational activities, represent the facility externally, and collaborate with hirify.global facilities in Grenoble, Heidelberg, and Hamburg, including occasional travel.

Requirements

• Technical, Master’s, or PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience in cell biology, eukaryotic cell culture, and recombinant protein or protein-complex expression strategies.
• Experience with construct design, expression optimisation, protein-complex characterisation, recombinant DNA, and genome-engineering approaches.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a service-oriented approach to supporting users.
• English is the working language of the institute.
• The role is based in Grenoble, France.

Nice to have

• Experience with insect, mammalian, or protist expression systems at different production scales.
• Experience with protein purification, cell sorters, advanced light microscopes, or cryo-electron microscopy sample preparation.
• Experience managing a scientific facility, shared research infrastructure, laboratory budgets, procurement, or scientific instrument negotiations.
• Experience delivering practical training or scientific courses.
