Regulatory Compliance Director (Fintech)

Location: United Kingdom; hybrid role based in London, with at least 3 days per week in the London office

What you will do

• Develop compliance frameworks aligned with UK regulatory requirements and lead readiness for market entry, licensing, and ongoing supervision.
• Act as the primary point of contact with the FCA and relevant UK regulatory bodies.
• Build policies and controls covering AML, KYC, data privacy, consumer duty, distribution, and claims compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments, implement remediation plans, and establish monitoring, testing, reporting, audit, and review processes.
• Oversee product compliance, marketing reviews, pricing governance, distribution oversight, and complaint-handling frameworks.
• Partner with product, operations, legal, marketing, and commercial teams, and deliver compliance training.

Requirements

• 8+ years of compliance, risk, or regulatory experience within financial services, insurance, insurtech, or fintech.
• Deep understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, FCA rules, and consumer duty requirements.
• Experience designing policies, conducting risk assessments, and managing complex compliance programmes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience dealing with regulators.
• Based in the UK and able to work from the London office at least 3 days per week.
• High integrity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to influence leaders using data and logic.

Nice to have

• Experience in start-ups or high-growth environments.
• Previous SMF experience, including familiarity with SMF16 responsibilities.
• Background in insurtech, digital distribution, or online marketplaces.
• Knowledge of GDPR, AML, sanctions, or cross-border compliance.
