SMF16 Compliance Oversight Director (Fintech)

Location: United Kingdom; hybrid role based in London with at least 3 days per week in the office

Salary: £100,000–£150,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and maintain UK compliance frameworks for market entry, licensing, and ongoing regulatory supervision.
• Act as the primary point of contact with the FCA and relevant UK regulatory bodies.
• Build policies and controls covering AML, KYC, data privacy, consumer duty, distribution, and claims compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments, manage remediation plans, and establish monitoring, testing, reporting, and audit processes.
• Oversee product compliance, marketing reviews, pricing governance, distribution oversight, and complaint handling.
• Partner with product, operations, legal, marketing, and commercial teams while delivering compliance training.

Requirements

• 8+ years of compliance, risk, or regulatory experience in financial services, insurance, insurtech, or fintech.
• Deep understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, FCA rules, and consumer duty requirements.
• Experience designing policies, conducting risk assessments, and managing complex compliance programs.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience dealing with regulators.
• Experience with digital platforms, distribution, or insurance products is preferred.

• Previous SMF experience.
• Background in insurtech, digital distribution, or online marketplaces.
• Knowledge of GDPR, AML, sanctions, or cross-border compliance.
