Focus on designing many-agent constellation simulations, analyzing coverage and resilience, and developing reliable software for spacecraft mission assurance.

Location: Los Angeles, CA; on-site in a secure environment

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

  • Develop mission-level modeling and simulation for national security space missions, including operational objectives, environments, and constraints.
  • Model constellation-level capabilities such as network coverage, beam planning, and resilience in contested environments.
  • Create and maintain simulation infrastructure and physics-based models for spacecraft propulsion, attitude control, power, and communications systems.
  • Analyze data and investigate anomalies to identify and resolve on-orbit problems.
  • Support spacecraft subsystem integration and testing.
  • Set technical direction, review designs and code, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance, or a TS/SCI clearance held within the last 12 months, and US citizenship are required.
  • Prior experience with classified national security programs and secure/SCIF environments is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, aerospace, mechanical or electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, or another STEM field.
  • 5+ years of professional modeling and simulation experience.
  • Development experience in Rust, C++, or a similar compiled language.
  • Experience with scientific Python, Julia, MATLAB, or similar tools, plus the ability to own complex systems end-to-end and guide other engineers.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in a relevant STEM field.
  • Mission-level or campaign-level modeling and simulation experience for defense or national security applications.
  • Production Rust experience and experience defining simulation systems.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo simulations, probability and statistics, linear algebra, controls, or orbital mechanics.
  • Experience with space communications modeling, including RF and ground stations.
  • Knowledge of electronics, Linux, computer architecture, continuous integration, and continuous delivery systems.
