Contract Student Worker - Forward Deployed Automation Engineer (40 hrs/wk)

Location: Seattle, WA; hybrid workplace with on-site work at an office location required

What you will do

• Design and deploy mobile-first internal web applications for vehicle dispatch, routing, and end-of-shift reporting.
• Build responsive, low-latency interfaces for real-time fleet monitoring and vehicle-state tracking.
• Develop diagnostic tools that convert vehicle telemetry and hardware sensor data into readable information for operations staff.
• Architect automated ticketing workflows for maintenance requests, incident reporting, and vehicle recovery dispatches.
• Build dashboards for fleet health, downtime, operator efficiency, and operational reviews.
• Collaborate with fleet operators and L3 hardware and software engineering teams to improve internal tools and reflect current autonomous-system capabilities.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. program in a relevant discipline.
• Available to work at least 40 hours per week and commit to a minimum three-month assignment.
• Experience or ability to optimize queries across SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Ability to aggregate and analyze large vehicle-performance datasets and provide actionable recommendations.
• Able to work on-site at an office location in Seattle, WA.
• Must comply with confidentiality requirements and not disclose proprietary information in academic research, theses, publications, or presentations.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating AI-driven workflows for operational-log analysis and fault prioritization.
• Experience developing compliance trackers that compare fleet operating zones with municipal regulations.
