Patient Access Liaison (Biotech)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; field-based role with phone, virtual, and in-person engagement and travel up to 50%, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments.

Annual base salary: $158,394–$193,988 for Level 5; $164,276–$222,256 for Level 6.

What you will do

• Support patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and sites of care with insurance benefits, prior authorization, reimbursement, and financial assistance pathways.
• Investigate and resolve coverage challenges, denied claims, reimbursement barriers, and issues occurring before or after infusion.
• Educate physician offices and infusion centers on coverage pathways, coding, billing, prior authorization, and reimbursement processes.
• Build relationships with patients and caregivers, assess individual needs, secure HIPAA authorizations, and provide access resources.
• Collaborate with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, Case Management, Marketing, and Site of Care teams.
• Document activities accurately, report adverse events and product complaints, and follow compliance and pharmacovigilance procedures.

Requirements

• Level 5: doctorate; or master's degree with 2 years of relevant experience; bachelor's degree with 4 years; associate's degree with 8 years; or high school diploma/GED with 10 years of patient services or access and reimbursement experience.
• Level 6: doctorate with 2 years, master's degree with 4 years, or bachelor's degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of patient access, reimbursement, prior authorization, appeals, denied claims, coding, billing, and healthcare reimbursement systems.
• Ability to manage complex patient situations, resolve access barriers, respond rapidly to urgent access needs, and operate effectively in a matrix field environment.
• Understanding of HIPAA, FDA, OIG, and internal compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM, AI, and relevant systems; strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with buy-and-bill or infused pharmaceutical therapies.
• Rare disease or orphan drug experience.
• Clinical background in nursing or allied health.
• Experience working in cross-functional field teams.
