Senior Transport Engineer

Location: Wellington, New Zealand; hybrid and flexible working arrangements. The role requires a full New Zealand driver's license and travel to site as needed.

What you will do

• Lead and contribute to transport engineering and design projects covering urban infrastructure, roads, intersections, active modes, and public transport.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, specifications, and schedules.
• Apply best-practice guidance and safety-in-design standards to improve user safety.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions for users and stakeholders.
• Build relationships with transportation clients and contribute to project delivery within programme, budget, and quality expectations.
• Transfer knowledge and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

• Proven experience delivering transport engineering or transport design outputs in line with New Zealand standards and best practice.
• Technical qualification in Civil Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• Ability to analyse and interpret transport engineering problems using sound theoretical knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and local government transport guidelines, standards, and specifications.
• Experience with design packages such as AutoCAD and 3D design software such as OpenRoads, Civil 3D, or 12d.
• Full New Zealand driver's license, with the ability to travel to site as required, plus effective communication and self-management skills.
