Senior Scientist (Neurobiology and Metabolism)

Location: Lexington, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $140,000–$190,000 annual base compensation, plus eligibility for bonus and long-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Champion or co-lead neuroscience and obesity drug discovery targets and projects from ideation through validation and early milestones.
• Build scientific rationales, decision-enabling data packages, and recommendations for project prioritization and governance reviews.
• Coordinate cross-functional experimental strategies across neurobiology, in vivo pharmacology, chemistry, computational biology, translational research, and project management.
• Integrate receptor signaling, cellular physiology, imaging, electrophysiology, gene-expression, and multi-omics datasets to generate mechanistic conclusions.
• Develop and apply assays for target validation, target engagement, pharmacology, and mechanism-of-action studies.
• Manage external academic, biotechnology, and CRO collaborations while mentoring junior scientists and communicating findings through presentations, publications, patents, and conferences.

Requirements

• Expertise in neurobiology, CNS physiology, or neuroendocrine mechanisms related to energy balance and metabolic control.
• Strong knowledge of receptor and intracellular signaling pharmacology, including potency, selectivity, pathway, and mechanism-of-action data.
• Experience leading complex scientific work in drug discovery, translational research, or a related environment.
• Experience coordinating scientific activities across collaborators, functions, or project teams and managing external collaborations or CROs.
• Bachelor's degree with 18+ years of relevant experience, master's degree with 12+ years, or doctoral degree with 6+ years of postdoctoral or industry-relevant experience.
• Ability to work onsite in Lexington, Massachusetts, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with incretins, amylin, leptin, metabolic hormone signaling, hypothalamic or hindbrain biology, GPCR pharmacology, or neural circuit mechanisms.
• Experience with small-molecule, peptide, protein, oligonucleotide, or other biologic discovery programs.
• Experience with primary neurons, stem-cell-derived neurons, engineered cell lines, brain slices, or other disease-relevant CNS models.
