Fluid Systems Intern Summer 2027

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027

What you will do

• Support the Fluid Systems team in solving engineering problems affecting the Neutron rocket.
• Help design, build, test, and analyze hardware between the tanks and engine.
• Apply engineering and industry concepts to real technical challenges.
• Work with mentors, supervisors, and department employees while providing regular progress updates.
• Participate in technical talks and professional networking events.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, physics, or mathematics, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• At least 3 months of applied engineering experience through an internship, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
• Must be able to work full-time on-site in Long Beach for at least 12 consecutive weeks.
• For work in U.S. offices, eligibility under U.S. space technology export regulations is required, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or the ability to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 or higher and at least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
• Experience with thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, propulsion, CAD/CAM, 3D printing, lathe machining, GD&T, or FEA.
