Activision 2027 Summer Internships - User Research Data Analytics (Game Analytics)

Location: In-person in Sherman Oaks, California, United States. Applicants must currently reside in the US or be open to relocating to the US. The internship lasts 12 weeks and starts in mid-May or mid-June.

Salary: $20.00–$50.00 hourly in the United States.

What you will do

• Partner with user research leads and game development teams to turn play test telemetry and research data into actionable insights.
• Query, join, validate, and summarize datasets using SQL across gameplay events, players, sessions, matches, and studies.
• Learn telemetry schemas and identify appropriate events, fields, and metrics for research and game-design questions.
• Build and maintain interactive visualizations and dashboards with JavaScript and Apache ECharts.
• Conduct ad-hoc investigations, data-quality checks, and analyses, clearly communicating findings and limitations.
• Support the integration of behavioral telemetry with survey data and contribute analytical summaries to research reports.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a master’s or PhD program and graduating between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Must currently reside in the US or be open to relocating to the US; the internship is conducted in person.
• Available for a 12-week internship beginning in mid-May or mid-June.
• Working knowledge of SQL, including joins, aggregations, filtering, CTEs, and troubleshooting structured datasets.
• Experience with JavaScript for data visualization and the ability to work with event-based data, including timestamps, player IDs, sessions, matches, and relational or nested structures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with attention to data quality and metric definition.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Apache ECharts or a comparable visualization library.
• Experience with Python, R, notebooks, version control, or additional BI and data-visualization tools.
• Passion for video games, familiarity with multiple game genres, or experience with hirify.global titles.
• Relevant coursework or personal and academic projects.
