Company

hirify.global is a biotechnology company developing medicines for serious illnesses across oncology, inflammation, general medicine, rare disease, and obesity-related conditions.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute molecular characterization strategies for knockout, knock-in, conditional, transgenic, humanized, and complex multi-allelic genetically engineered models.
  • Design, validate, and troubleshoot qPCR, multiplex ddPCR, Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing, NGS, and other molecular assays.
  • Characterize engineered alleles for sequence and structural integrity, copy number, zygosity, mosaicism, insertion sites, off-target effects, and unintended editing events.
  • Build scalable computational, bioinformatics, automation, and AI-enabled workflows for sequencing analysis, model design, data interpretation, and reporting.
  • Establish QC standards, SOPs, documentation, traceability, and high-throughput workflows for GEM characterization.
  • Collaborate with Comparative Medicine, Therapeutic Area, Functional Genomics, computational teams, and external partners to resolve complex model questions.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree plus 5 years; or a bachelor’s degree plus 7 years.
  • Extensive experience with genetically engineered models, genome engineering, and molecular characterization.
  • Hands-on expertise in qPCR, multiplex ddPCR, Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing, NGS, and sequencing-based characterization.
  • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 model design and generation, engineered-allele validation, and off-target assessment.
  • Experience with bioinformatics, computational sequencing workflows, programming—particularly Python—and high-throughput molecular automation.
  • Role location is US - California - South San Francisco.

Nice to have

  • Experience with in vivo GEMs and engineered cell systems, including ESCs, iPSCs, or HSPCs.
  • Experience with quantitative expression approaches such as RT-ddPCR.
  • Experience evaluating or implementing AI-enabled approaches for scientific analysis, model design, data interpretation, or workflow automation.
