Staff Scientist (NGS)

Location: On-site in Boulder, Colorado, United States; occasional travel to other IDT sites or scientific conferences is required at less than 5%.

Annual salary: $120,000–$140,000, plus eligibility for bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Develop new Next Generation Sequencing assay products using wet-lab and dry-lab methods.
• Design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret results, and communicate findings to internal and external audiences.
• Support commercial NGS products as a subject matter expert.
• Develop bioinformatics workflows for NGS assays intended for non-technical users.
• Present experimental product demonstrations at scientific conferences.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in life sciences or a related discipline with 8+ years of NGS product development experience, or a Ph.D. with 5+ years of NGS product development experience.
• Experience preparing nucleic acids for NGS in a wet-lab environment.
• Experience programming for NGS data analysis in a dry-lab environment.
• Foundational knowledge of human genetics, cancer biology, and statistics.
• Industry experience developing and supporting NGS products with software components.
• Ability to work in a laboratory environment for extended periods and occasionally lift, move, or carry equipment up to 10 lb.

Nice to have

• Python programming, machine learning methods, and Nextflow experience.
• Experience developing gene expression phenotype classifiers for RNA-seq.
• Experience with NGS methods for methylation detection.
