TL;DR
Systems Test Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and owning the full lifecycle of electromechanical ground support equipment for Extra-vehicular Activities test and verification with an accent on requirements, design, fabrication, integration, and hardware test execution. Focus on preparing system documentation, conducting test readiness reviews, coordinating with external facilities, and solving complex aerospace test challenges across NASA human spaceflight programs.

Location: Houston, United States; onsite at the Hercules facility

What you will do

  • Own the full lifecycle of electromechanical ground support equipment for system-level EVA tests.
  • Manage requirements, design concepts, procurement, fabrication, checkout, and integration with test setups.
  • Track development milestones including Kickoff, PDR, CDR, and TRR.
  • Create design, operations, maintenance, hazard, bill of materials, and mechanical and electrical schematic documentation.
  • Coordinate with external test facilities and conduct test readiness reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Travel for test events as needed, generally less than 20%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related engineering; an ABET-accredited degree is preferred.
  • Level III: 4–9 years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Level IV: 7–12 years of experience or equivalent education and experience; a master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Experience designing pressure, electrical, and/or mechanical systems, as well as planning and executing hardware tests.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and building test ground support equipment.
  • Eligibility for access to U.S. export-controlled technical data or technology may require additional screening under NASA regulations, ITAR, or EAR.

Nice to have

  • Experience with NASA human spaceflight programs and testing spacecraft, spacesuits, or space vehicles.
  • Experience in startup organizations.
