Hardware Engineering Manager (Networking Hardware)

Location: Santa Clara, CA, USA; majority onsite at the Santa Clara headquarters with minimal remote opportunities

Total estimated annual compensation: $500,000–$800,000, including base salary, bonus, and equity. Base salary: $180,000–$275,000.

What you will do

• Lead multiple cross-functional teams designing and verifying high-density, high-bandwidth Ethernet switches.
• Provide technical direction on schematic entry, PCB layout, board bring-up, system debug, and complex hardware issues.
• Translate product strategy into executable system designs and priorities across multiple projects.
• Drive component and vendor roadmaps covering ASICs, connectors, PCB vendors, and manufacturing partners.
• Analyze signal integrity and power integrity results, participate in design reviews, and improve first-pass manufacturing yields.
• Manage, mentor, and motivate hardware engineers while overseeing customer escalations and process improvements.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant networking hardware design experience.
• Prior technical management experience leading hardware engineering teams across multiple simultaneous projects.
• Experience with high-layer-count PCBs, high-speed design, embedded x86/ARM systems, gigabit-plus signaling, and high-speed buses.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, SMBus, SPI, PCIe, PoE, Wi-Fi, PTP, and MDIO protocols.
• Expertise in design for manufacturability and collaboration with contract, original design, and joint design manufacturers.
• Strong communication, project management, technical documentation, schematic design, CAD collaboration, and software engineering collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Background in scripting and general software development.
• Experience with impedance, PDN, differential routing, insertion loss, S-parameters, TDR, and VNA tools.
