Senior Staff Technical Lead Manager (Android Automotive)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; the listing is marked onsite and the role is also described as hybrid.

Salary: $298,000–$368,000 USD per year, plus potential annual bonus, equity incentives, and company benefits.

What you will do

• Manage multiple technical lead managers and teams developing the full in-car experience.
• Define multi-year technical architecture across hardware bring-up, Android OS layers, rider-facing applications, and vehicle communications.
• Identify cross-team bottlenecks involving OS stability, rendering performance, and release automation, then convert them into engineering milestones.
• Lead integration of complex features including 3D vehicle views, AI features, and the in-car application ecosystem.
• Set standards for code health, system reliability, and testing while mentoring engineers at multiple levels.
• Align product, design, data science, UX, systems engineering, and hardware teams around a cohesive product direction.

Requirements

• Management experience with teams totaling more than 25 people across multiple sub-teams.
• Experience managing multiple technical lead managers, each leading teams of 6–8 people.
• Technical leadership experience setting strategic direction and delivering solutions for complex, multi-team domains.
• Hands-on Android/AOSP experience, including Android platform features and frameworks rather than only application development.
• Deep expertise in Android OS internals, C++ native layers, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, embedded systems, and complementary backend systems.
• Strong system design, architecture decomposition, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills, plus experience deploying agent systems to improve team velocity.
