Director of Engineering (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid working model with in-person collaboration in office spaces and remote work.

Estimated base salary: $347.5K–$402.7K annually.

hirify.global is building an AI platform for autonomous driving, using an end-to-end, mapless, hardware-agnostic approach that enables vehicles to learn from real-world experience and supports deployment with global automotive OEM partners.

What you will do

• Lead the Product Engineering group within the AI Engineering organization, reporting to the VP of Autonomy and managing 50+ permanent employees across Driving, ADAS, Parking, and HMI.
• Define the technical vision, strategy, metrics, and autonomous vehicle capability roadmap for the area.
• Deliver production-quality autonomy capabilities by collecting, filtering, and selecting training data, then training, tuning, debugging, and evaluating production AI models.
• Define data curricula for product feature and geographical coverage and drive an evaluation-led culture focused on KPI predictability and resource efficiency.
• Provide leadership to Engineering Managers, coordinate with teams across hirify.global and OEM application teams, and align deliverables with company objectives.
• Build technical capabilities, resilient systems and teams, and career growth plans for engineers.

Requirements

• Experience delivering successful autonomy products that rely on complex AI models.
• Experience leading complex teams, including multiple management layers or matrixed organizations.
• Experience with autonomy products such as autopilot/navigation, active safety, or parking.
• Experience articulating roadmaps and interfacing with leadership and business functions.
• Experience with resource allocation, program planning, and execution over a 1–2 year horizon.
• Experience with code development practices, testing, and serviceability.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience applying foundation models to implement specific product features.
• Experience working with multiple automotive OEMs.
• Experience with GenAI simulation.
• Experience with cloud platforms, databases, and large-scale data pipelines.
