Senior Engineer - Mobile Application (Android)

Location: Remote within the United States; hybrid 2–3 days per week if based in Austin, TX or Reston, VA.

Salary: $180,000–$195,000 base salary per year, plus a 10% annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Build production-quality features for the hirify.global Client enterprise Android application.
• Reconcile product requirements with Android internals and ecosystem capabilities.
• Design, code, troubleshoot, and test bug fixes and new features across the full agile development process.
• Create unit tests and run test suites using the test automation framework.
• Deliver code through an evolving CI/CD pipeline to on-premises and public cloud deployments.
• Apply secure software development practices to protect intellectual property, user data, and system integrity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing Android mobile applications and 3+ years leading mobile application development.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, including coroutines and Flow.
• Strong working knowledge of Java threading, Android Jetpack fundamentals including ViewModel, Lifecycle, and DataStore, MVVM, and unidirectional data flow.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and a dependency injection framework such as Koin, Dagger, or Hilt.
• Familiarity with Gradle Kotlin DSL and multi-module Android projects.
• Experience writing unit tests with JUnit and a mocking library such as MockK.
• Experience testing cloud-based applications on Amazon Web Services or Azure.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix-based operating systems and strong understanding of Git version control.
• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Comfort working in a Kotlin Multiplatform codebase and prior Compose Multiplatform experience.
• Willingness to work in both Android and iOS environments when needed.
• Experience with gRPC or SPICE, the Android camera subsystem including Camera2 and CameraX, and notifications including FCM; APNs experience is a bonus.
• Encoder and decoder knowledge including H.264/H.265, VP8/VP9, and AV1.
