Resource Planning Analyst I or II or Senior (Energy)

Salary: $84,900–$159,400 per year, depending on level and experience.

What you will do

• Analyze, develop, and implement resource expansion plans to meet electric system growth requirements.
• Develop cost-effective plans for new generation capacity, purchased power, and other energy resources within state resource-planning requirements.
• Model expansion plans and production costs across supply alternatives, portfolios, scenarios, and risks including fuel prices, electricity markets, reliability, environmental requirements, and technology development.
• Coordinate with forecasting, risk management, trading, fuel supply, transmission operations, and other groups on system constraints, demand growth, and market risks.
• Maintain accurate fuel-cost, production-capability, contract-term, and operating data used in utility system models.
• Design resource solicitations, evaluate offers using quantitative and economic tools, and recommend offers for contract negotiation and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, economics, operations research, mathematics, business, or a related quantitative field, depending on level.
• Analyst I: two years of energy-industry experience or equivalent experience with large optimization or forecasting models.
• Analyst II: five or more years of related work experience.
• Senior Analyst: at least eight years of utility experience, at least three years of expansion or production simulation modeling, and extensive knowledge of at least one large hirify.global utility.
• Experience with generation planning, system modeling, forecasting, rates, load research, plant engineering, or utility operations is required for the applicable level.

• Graduate coursework in finance, economics, operations research, or decision analysis.
