Principal (Venture Capital)

Location: 5 days per week in office; based in Boston, New York City, or Menlo Park, United States

Annual base salary: $170,000–$180,000, plus potential equity, carry, and corporate bonus.

What you will do

• Source and qualify venture investment opportunities across sectors and stages, primarily Seed and Series A.
• Build relationships with founders, venture investors, accelerators, universities, and other ecosystem participants.
• Lead diligence covering teams, business models, markets, competition, traction, financing terms, and investment risks.
• Prepare investment memos and recommendations for the Investment Committee and support approved investments through closing.
• Build portfolios, monitor company performance, and support portfolio companies with introductions, recruiting, business development, and financing.
• Support fundraising, investor relations, community engagement, events, webinars, and thought leadership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of overall professional experience, including meaningful experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, startups, or a related field.
• Approximately 1–3 or more years of direct venture capital experience covering sourcing, diligence, investment decisions, and portfolio support.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, computer science, or a related field; an MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
• Understanding of venture capital deal structures, financing terms, investment processes, and industry practices.
• Strong analytical, relationship-building, prioritization, and independent execution skills.
• Hands-on familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for research, diligence, analysis, and workflows.
