Director, Technical Accounting

What you will do

• Own complex and judgment-intensive accounting areas, including investments, goodwill, intangibles, debt and equity transactions, stock-based compensation, capitalized software, and leases.
• Research issues and prepare or review detailed technical accounting memos, adoption memos, accounting policies, and financial statement disclosures.
• Monitor new and proposed accounting standards and lead cross-functional implementation efforts.
• Coordinate with external valuation specialists and serve as a proactive liaison with external auditors.
• Advise FP&A, Legal, HR, and other functions on the accounting implications of transactions and strategic initiatives.
• Lead process improvements, incorporate AI tools into research and documentation, maintain SOX controls, and supervise team members as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including required public accounting experience and preferably Big Four or large national firm experience.
• Experience researching and authoring technical accounting memos that withstand audit scrutiny.
• Experience implementing new accounting pronouncements through impact assessment, policy updates, and process changes.
• Strong communication, advanced Excel, self-management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced public company environment.
