Principal (Venture Capital)

Location: 5-day-a-week, in-office role based in New York City, Menlo Park, or Boston, United States

Annual base salary: $170,000–$180,000, plus potential equity, carry, and corporate bonus.

What you will do

• Source and qualify venture investment opportunities across sectors and stages, primarily Seed and Series A.
• Lead diligence on company teams, business models, markets, competition, traction, financing terms, and investment risks.
• Prepare investment memos and present recommendations through the Investment Committee process.
• Execute approved investments and help build a balanced portfolio aligned with team strategy and investment targets.
• Develop relationships with founders, investors, operators, universities, accelerators, and other ecosystem partners.
• Support portfolio companies, fundraising, investor relations, community engagement, events, and thought leadership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience, including relevant experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, startups, or a related field.
• Approximately 1–3 or more years of direct venture capital experience covering sourcing, diligence, investment decisions, and portfolio support.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Understanding of venture capital deal structures, financing terms, investment processes, and industry practices.
• Strong analytical, networking, prioritization, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Hands-on familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms.

Nice to have

• MBA or another advanced degree.
• Ability to develop differentiated investment theses and expertise across sectors, technologies, and stages.
