Senior Software Engineer (Ray Data)

Salary: $240,000 – $270,000 per year + Equity

What you will do

• Design and improve core systems powering Ray Data with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Optimize distributed execution across heterogeneous environments for data pipelines.
• Build data loading and processing solutions for production training and inference.
• Solve complex problems in scheduling, resource management, data partitioning, and fault tolerance.
• Make system-level architectural decisions regarding execution models and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with AI-native companies to solve scaling challenges in their workloads.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building production-grade software or infrastructure systems.
• Strong Python engineering experience.
• Deep experience with distributed systems internals (scheduling, fault tolerance, data partitioning).
• Proven track record of owning core architectural decisions in distributed data or compute engines.
• Ability to reason through system-level tradeoffs like batch vs. streaming and consistency vs. availability.
• Must have authorization to work in the United States (E-Verify company).
