Software Engineer 3 (Data Analytics)

What you will do

• Develop web-based applications that automate data management, approvals, data movement, reuse, and downstream integration.
• Extract meaning from structured and unstructured data using statistical methods, machine learning, query tools, and visualization platforms.
• Design methodologies for automated data characterization, metadata processing, data enrichment, conversion, and ingestion.
• Analyze requirements and collaborate with customer teams to support mission needs and new data types.
• Recommend technologies, select development processes, and serve as technical lead for multiple software development teams.
• Coordinate quality control, programming, testing, and performance monitoring across development teams.

Requirements

• United States citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with agency-appropriate polygraph are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or four additional years of comparable software engineering experience.
• 20 years of software engineering experience on projects of similar scope, type, and complexity, including at least 6 recent years of development experience.
• Experience with data enrichment and conversion, data ontologies and schemas, XML, CSV, JSON, and databases.
• Experience with Java, analytic development, and preferably NiFi.
• Ability to develop data queries and work with customer, systems engineering, stakeholder, and leadership teams.

Nice to have

• Python or Scala scripting with statistical libraries.
• Pig, Hadoop MapReduce, Spark, Hadoop data flows, predictive analytics, machine learning, and data mining.
• Experience with data indexing, cloud service providers, data stewards, and network metadata analysis.
