TL;DR
Avionics Engineer (Aerospace): Integrating and validating avionics systems for autonomous cargo aircraft with an accent on flight computers, sensors, actuators, communication buses, power distribution, and EMI/EMC mitigation. Focus on designing aircraft schematics and harnesses, debugging hardware and signal issues, performing HIL testing, and diagnosing complex problems during ground and flight testing.

What you will do

  • Integrate flight computers, sensors, actuators, and communication systems into cohesive aircraft avionics systems.
  • Create wiring diagrams, interconnect drawings, and system schematics.
  • Configure and troubleshoot CAN, ARINC 429, RS-232/485, and Ethernet data bus architectures.
  • Support electrical load analysis, power distribution, and EMI/EMC mitigation across the airframe.
  • Build test harnesses, breadboard circuits, and perform Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical structures, and flight test teams to diagnose aircraft issues during ground and flight testing.

Requirements

  • Experience integrating complex electronic systems on aircraft, UAVs, or high-performance vehicles.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and harness design tools such as Altium, AutoCAD Electrical, or Capital.
  • Understanding of basic circuit theory and experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Ability to analyze how sensor sample-rate changes affect flight controllers and pilot displays.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to non-electrical colleagues.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with DO-160, DO-178, or DO-254 standards.
  • Experience integrating antennas, GPS, or telemetry links.
  • Python or C/C++ proficiency for test automation and flight-data parsing.
  • Experience developing quick-turn boards for breakout boxes or signal conditioning.
  • Private pilot license or Part 107 UAV certification.
