Manager, Payroll Operations - Sub Saharan

What you will do

• Lead a team of payroll specialists and own accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across the assigned payroll scope.
• Coach team members, provide feedback, contribute to performance decisions, and foster a psychologically safe, accountable environment.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll delivery for a defined group of countries, including documentation, auditability, regulatory requirements, and vendor relationships.
• Support global payroll implementations such as new country launches, vendor transitions, and in-housing initiatives.
• Identify operational risks and process gaps while improving efficiency, reducing errors, and rolling out tools, automation, and standardized workflows.
• Partner with People Operations, Finance, Legal, Product, and Service Operations on payroll outcomes, risks, delays, and changes.

Requirements

• Experience owning payroll outcomes for a team in regional or multi-country environments.
• Demonstrated people leadership, including coaching, feedback, and performance input.
• Experience leading investigations, resolving operational issues, and applying policies and controls consistently.
• Strong operational judgment with the ability to balance speed, accuracy, compliance, and customer impact.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially in async environments.
• Fluent English required.
