Head of Engineering, POS Application Platform (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for the Kotlin-based POS Application Platform.
• Build and govern developer tooling, shared libraries, SDKs, foundational frameworks, release pipelines, and engineering standards.
• Lead platform reliability through observability, monitoring, alerting, uptime, quality standards, and incident response.
• Define architecture and governance across Android POS devices from multiple OEM manufacturers, collaborating with hardware teams and OEM partners.
• Functionally lead POS engineers embedded in Payments, Onboarding, VAS, Savings, and Loans squads while driving platform adoption.
• Build and scale the platform engineering team through hiring, mentoring, organisational design, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience, including 6 years leading engineering teams through significant growth.
• Direct hands-on experience building applications for POS terminal devices is mandatory; server-side POS integrations alone are not sufficient.
• Strong knowledge of EMV standards and payment certification processes including PCI DSS and P2PE is mandatory.
• Deep Android engineering expertise with Kotlin and Java is required.
• Experience building internal engineering platforms, shared libraries, developer tooling, or foundational frameworks used by other engineering teams.
• Experience with multiple POS device types, OEM integrations, device management, platform engineering governance, and high-volume regulated financial transaction environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with terminal management systems and device observability tooling.
• Backend experience with Java or Spring Boot.
• Experience working directly with OEM vendors on hardware specifications and integrations.
• Exposure to C or C++.
