Head of Engineering, POS Application Platform (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for the POS Application Platform as the domain technical leader.
• Build and govern developer experience, platform reliability, foundational frameworks, tooling, SDKs, testing, release pipelines, and squad adoption.
• Set engineering standards across Android POS devices and OEM manufacturers, including device onboarding, governance, and integration.
• Functionally lead POS engineers embedded across Payments, Onboarding, VAS, Savings, and Loans squads.
• Own observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and platform health across devices and squads.
• Build and scale the platform team, collaborate with OEM and hardware teams, and connect platform decisions to business outcomes across markets.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience, including 6 years leading engineering teams through significant growth.
• Direct hands-on experience building software for POS terminal devices at the application layer is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of EMV standards and payment certification processes such as PCI DSS and P2PE is mandatory.
• Deep Android engineering expertise in Kotlin and Java is required.
• Experience building internal engineering platforms, shared libraries, developer tooling, or foundational frameworks used by other teams.
• Experience with multiple POS device types, OEM integrations, terminal management, platform engineering governance, and regulated high-volume financial transaction environments.

Nice to have

• Backend experience with Java or Spring Boot.
• Experience working directly with OEM vendors on hardware specifications and integrations.
• Exposure to C or C++.
• Experience with terminal management systems and device observability tooling.
