TL;DR
Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer / SME (Aerospace): Developing mission-specific and cross-portfolio modeling and simulation services for U.S. Space Force space systems, with an accent on requirements traceability, scenario analysis, and verification and validation. Focus on modeling system-of-systems solutions, evaluating vulnerability and resilience, and guiding modernization decisions across SATCOM, PNT, missile warning, ISR, and launch missions.

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite at Los Angeles AFB

Salary: $180,000–$240,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop mission-specific and cross-portfolio modeling and simulation services, algorithms, and scenario outcome analyses.
  • Trace requirements from mission areas through representative simulations of system dynamics, operations, and behavior.
  • Model systems-of-systems and families-of-systems solutions to evaluate modernization, vulnerability, survivability, resilience, performance, and technology readiness.
  • Establish and conduct modeling and simulation verification and validation procedures, including maintenance of government models such as AFSIM and SEAS.
  • Support requirements development, JCIDS documentation, technical analysis, briefings, reports, and architectural roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with SWAC, CSRO/S5R, and PEO offices on modeling and simulation priorities for SATCOM, PNT, missile warning and tracking, TacISR, SBEM, BMC3, and launch systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a relevant field.
  • 15+ years of STEM experience, with emphasis on electrical or mechanical engineering, physics, earth science, mathematics, operations analysis, or a related discipline.
  • Experience designing, developing, implementing, deploying, managing, or upgrading complex technical systems in the SSIO mission space.
  • Proficiency in systems engineering and at least one implementation area, such as software, electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or mission engineering.
  • Technical program leadership experience, including team development and individual leadership training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Matlab, AFSIM, and STK; willingness to travel as needed; Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility required.

Nice to have

  • Space-system modeling and simulation experience in military, contractor, DoD civilian, SETA, or SE&I environments.
  • Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle and JCIDS processes.
  • Experience with SSC mission areas, systems and mission scenarios, statistical performance measurement, and stochastic modeling verification and validation.
