Tooling Research Engineer

Location: On-site in Maplewood, Minnesota, United States, with at least four days per week at hirify.global Center. Travel may include up to 5% domestic travel. Relocation benefits are not authorized.

Salary: $81,983–$100,202 per year, including base pay and variable incentive pay if eligible.

What you will do

• Design and develop precision-machined molds and specialized tooling for new products from concept through launch.
• Collaborate with NTI/NPI teams, production staff, laboratory teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Transfer microreplication tooling processes, test methods, and quality improvements from laboratory development to production plants.
• Optimize tooling manufacturing processes and products to achieve high-quality results and continuous improvement.
• Develop and document new test methods, apply data-driven decision-making, and create intellectual property.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• At least three months of CAD experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Experience or knowledge in precision machine tools, M&G code, GD&T, metrology, or multi-axis machine programming is relevant to the role.
• Experience with mechanical product design, complex components, assemblies, mechanisms, R&D, or plant environments is valuable.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with white light interferometry, optical microscopy, Siemens NX CAD/CAM, data analysis software, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience with laboratory or pilot-plant experimentation, product commercialization, accelerated development timelines, and quality improvement.
• Strong troubleshooting, creative problem-solving, cross-functional communication, and work-related leadership abilities.
