Supervisory Accountant, Reinsurance

Location: CT-Wilton, United States; primarily office-based

Salary: $89,000–$112,000 base salary for positions based in New Jersey, plus eligibility for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Coordinate excess of loss and quota share cessions and premium adjustments across multiple reinsurance programs and lines of business.
• Allocate deposit premiums, prepare and review monthly journal entries, and calculate premium adjustments.
• Coordinate settlements and cash application with Reinsurance Collections.
• Perform SOX control reviews and support responses to reinsurer inquiries through research and analysis.
• Support CFO and FP&A teams with questions about specific reinsurance programs.
• Process assumed reinsurance programs based on SOA, including applicable retrocessions, and review Schedule F Part 3 balances.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
• At least five years of relevant professional experience, particularly leading teams in a controller capacity for a public property and casualty insurance company.
• Strong knowledge of reinsurance operations, including underwriting, claims, accounting, finance, processes, controls, and systems.
• Strong insurance technical accounting expertise, including analysis of balance sheet and income statement relationships.
• Experience managing onshore and offshore resources globally and working effectively across Finance and operational disciplines.
• Strong systems, reporting, communication, analytical, and process-improvement skills with high attention to detail.
