Senior Data Engineer (Java Spark Cloud-Native Applications)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work with up to 3 days remote per week. Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in Europe.

What you will do

• Design and develop high-performance Apache Spark applications for batch data processing.
• Build scalable data pipelines using Java 9+ and Spring.
• Implement cloud-native deployments with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Optimize performance and troubleshoot complex data workflows.
• Work with PostgreSQL, Oracle ExaCC, S3, and Spark SQL.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, solution design, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of Java/J2EE development experience, preferably in data processing.
• At least 1 year of hands-on Apache Spark experience.
• Strong experience with cloud-native applications, Docker, Kubernetes, modern Java features, and transactional SQL.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Oracle ExaCC, S3, Maven, GitLab, and Liquibase.
• Fluent English and French at B2 level are required.
• Existing legal authorization to work in Europe is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Argo Workflow.
• Additional French language experience at B2 level.
