Child Life Specialist PRN Days

What you will do

• Provide family-centered psychosocial, emotional, and developmental support to patients and families.
• Conduct medical play, psychosocial preparation, and procedural support in collaboration with medical and nursing staff.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate activities and programs for individuals and groups in playrooms, at the bedside, outpatient clinics, and the Emergency Department.
• Document assessments, plans, and interventions in medical records and communicate relevant information to staff.
• Advocate for child development needs, serve as a liaison between patients, families, and staff, and provide consultation to the healthcare team.
• Support quality improvement and community education activities, and supervise Child Life students and volunteers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Child Life, or a related field.
• Certified Child Life Specialist certification or eligibility to sit for the Child Life Certification exam.
• At least 6 months of related experience, including qualifying worksite educational experience.
• Excellent communication skills with diverse populations, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to solve problems and work independently.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements, including frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, standing, and lifting.
