Servicing Specialist (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid

Salary: $118,000–$123,000 per year

What you will do

• Investigate and resolve payment processing issues, ACH failures, alternative payment plans, and collection errors.
• Support small business owners through email, SMS, and phone while debugging payment issues and de-escalating difficult situations.
• Review payment disputes and chargebacks, compile evidence, and represent cases to banks and card network partners.
• Monitor transactions for fraud indicators, anomalous activity, and high-risk patterns, escalating cases according to policy.
• Track payment issues, document resolutions, and improve recovery rates and payment transparency.
• Partner with Customer Support, Funding, product operations, and management to improve servicing systems, processes, and merchant experiences.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with loan servicing.
• Strong understanding of payments, ACH failures, and return codes.
• Experience resolving payment disputes and chargebacks, including evidence gathering and case representation.
• Experience identifying fraud signals, unusual account activity, and high-risk transaction patterns.
• Excellent communication skills and a data-driven approach to monitoring and optimizing recovery rates.
• Ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment and contribute to process improvement.

• Experience working at a fintech startup.
• Experience building teams and processes from the ground up.
• Fluency in or willingness to learn SQL, R, or Python for data analysis.
