TL;DR
Disney Live Entertainment Lighting Design Intern (Theater Technical Design) (Live Entertainment Lighting): Supporting the design and technical production of lighting for parades, stage shows, and special events with an accent on lighting documentation, design intent, light plots, and technical drawings. Focus on developing Vectorworks and ConnectCAD materials, researching lighting technology, and coordinating with designers, safety, production, and facilities teams.

Location: Anaheim, California, United States; onsite. Internship period: January 2027 to June 2027. Candidates must be fully available for the duration and able to maintain a consistent, reliable work schedule.

Pay: $21.13 per hour. Select benefits may be provided, depending on the position and level.

What you will do

  • Support Lighting Designers in the creative and technical production of parades, stage shows, and special events.
  • Produce documentation, design intent materials, and light plots.
  • Provide technical drawing support using Vectorworks and ConnectCAD.
  • Assist with lighting design and technical research.
  • Collaborate with designers, safety teams, production teams, and facilities teams.
  • Attend and contribute to department and project production meetings.

Requirements

  • Be a junior, senior, or graduate student pursuing a degree in technical theater or a related field; enrollment in an accredited college or university is required.
  • Be at least 18 years old and possess unrestricted US work authorization.
  • Possess a valid US driver's license and be able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Have knowledge of lighting technology and supporting equipment, plus familiarity with the entertainment industry and a creative background.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Vectorworks, with the ability to learn new software.
  • Provide reliable transportation to and from work and comply with Disney appearance guidelines.

Nice to have

  • Completing or pursuing an MFA in a theater technical design-related field.
  • Previous experience supporting lighting design and technical production.
