Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer (Data Hub)

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field

Salary: CAD 140,000–210,000 annually; an additional Canada base pay range of CAD 112,000–168,000 is also listed.

What you will do

• Build and operate a cloud platform for ingesting data from internal and external producers.
• Compute, aggregate, curate, and surface datasets for hirify.global applications and front-end components.
• Provide contextual data for AI/ML inference generation and agentic workflows.
• Develop scalable service endpoints and deliver services from code through production deployment.
• Collaborate on object-oriented software design, clean code, testing, deployment, and production operations.
• Support production triage and on-call responsibilities while improving reliability and performance.

Requirements

• Software Engineer: 3+ years of software engineering or distributed systems experience; Senior Software Engineer: 6+ years.
• 3+ years of proficiency in at least two of Java, Scala, and Python.
• 3+ years of cloud engineering experience and working knowledge of AWS or GCP managed services.
• Experience with at least one of Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, Kubernetes, Terraform, or AWS cloud infrastructure.
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with CI, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, observability, testing, performance, security, availability, and production operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI code-generation tools such as ClaudeCode, Windsurf, or Cursor.
• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, or Hive.
• Knowledge of operating system concepts, concurrency, networking, memory, storage, and process management.
