Senior Staff Data Engineer (GCP)

Location: Remote Canada

Salary: CAD 142,000–189,000 for Canada Tier 1 locations; CAD 129,000–171,000 for Canada Tier 2 locations.

What you will do

• Design, build, and improve reliable systems processing tens of terabytes of data per day.
• Develop modern GCP workflows using Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, GKE, and Airflow.
• Evaluate technologies and establish engineering standards across Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering.
• Drive cross-functional data projects with Data Science, Product, Legal, Policy, and Engineering.
• Design data abstractions with Data Science and address the evolving needs of active Data Products.
• Mentor engineers and develop best practices across the Data Organization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of combined experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Data Science, or Data Analyst roles.
• Deep expertise in Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering.
• Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure data tooling, including Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Dataflow or comparable technologies.
• Experience with Looker, Fivetran, Kubernetes or GKE, Airflow or Cloud Composer, and Terraform or comparable technologies.
• Advanced SQL and Python skills, with strong software engineering fundamentals in modularity, abstraction, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience as a technical or team lead, hands-on Data Engineering or Data Platform manager, or in a similar leadership role.
