Engineer I - Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) (Water and Wastewater): Developing instrumentation and controls design deliverables for water and wastewater projects with an accent on process-control documentation, I&C design standards, and coordination across engineering disciplines. Focus on preparing instrument and I/O lists, loop drawings, panel schedules, PLC/RTU/SCADA documentation, and supporting commissioning, startup, and OT cybersecurity practices.
Location: Tampa, Florida; hybrid schedule with up to 40% remote work.

What you will do
- Support I&C design deliverables for water and wastewater projects, including instrument lists, I/O lists, data sheets, panel schedules, loop drawings, P&ID markups, control narratives, and specifications.
- Prepare, organize, and update technical documentation, incorporate redlines and QA/QC feedback, and maintain project files.
- Develop basic I&C design information covering instruments, signal types, panels, conduits, cables, device locations, loops, and interfaces with other disciplines.
- Review vendor information and project documents, track open items, and coordinate with process, electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, operations, vendor, and contractor teams.
- Support field visits, site documentation, FAT/SAT activities, commissioning, startup, punch-list tracking, and record documentation.
- Use CAD/BIM, spreadsheets, Bluebeam/PDF markup, and document-management workflows while developing awareness of OT cybersecurity and resilience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or another discipline directly related to instrumentation and controls design.
- Ability to acquire EIT certification.
- Foundational understanding of engineering drawings, technical specifications, process control, instrumentation, electrical principles, and project documentation.
- Ability to follow technical direction, incorporate redlines, perform self-checks, document assumptions, communicate task status, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to learn CAD/BIM, PDF markup, document control, and other I&C project-delivery tools.
Nice to have
- EIT certification or successful completion of the FE exam.
- Early-career experience with water/wastewater facilities, industrial controls, process instrumentation, electrical design, automation, SCADA, PLCs, or HMI systems.
- Coursework or exposure to control systems, process control, instrumentation, electrical circuits, automation, networking, programming, cybersecurity, or water/wastewater treatment.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, ISA-5.1, NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, UL 508A, AWWA, or WEF.
