Controls Engineer II (PLC)

Location: United States; hybrid in Atlanta, Georgia, Irving, Texas, or Charlotte, North Carolina, with three office days per week; remote outside these areas within the United States. Travel up to 40% annually, including short-term 10/4 rotations.

What you will do

• Design and deploy control systems, including PLC programming, commissioning, HMI development, and pre-deployment code validation.
• Troubleshoot PLC code and electrical systems during on-site commissioning and equipment testing.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineering on device requirements and control network architecture.
• Review customer standards and technical documentation to define system requirements.
• Estimate costs and resources for module development and commissioning while tracking project budgets and schedules.
• Execute module, subsystem, and system-level software testing and recommend productivity and cost improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field with five years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with three years of relevant experience.
• Experience programming Rockwell Automation PLCs, including GuardLogix, and Siemens TIA Portal, including Starter.
• Experience with EtherNet/IP network architecture, electrical schematics, and HMI programming.
• Ability to collaborate with project management, engineering, installation crews, and external partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and an understanding of project financial tracking and schedule management.
• Must be legally authorized to work full-time for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
