Associate Art Director (Mobile 3D)

Location: Santa Monica, California, United States; onsite four days per week

Salary: $126,800–$234,580 annual base pay in the U.S., plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Partner with the Creative Director to maintain the artistic vision, visual identity, and quality bar for a mobile 3D project.
• Provide creative oversight across character, enemy, environment, animation, VFX, UI, concept, and other visual disciplines.
• Review concepts, work-in-progress assets, milestone submissions, and game content, providing actionable feedback.
• Act as a steward of the established IP while supporting the project’s distinct stylized identity.
• Create art direction notes, paintovers, references, benchmarks, feedback packages, concepts, mockups, and presentation materials.
• Collaborate with Design, Production, Marketing, internal teams, external developers, and development partners.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional game development experience, including a senior, lead, supervisory, or art direction role.
• Strong artistic judgment and the ability to direct work across multiple visual disciplines.
• Strong understanding of 3D game art, visual development, and contemporary game production.
• Experience with stylized art direction and adapting to varied aesthetic targets.
• Experience collaborating with external developers, outsourcing partners, or distributed teams.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, presentation, IP stewardship, and brand management skills.
