Virtual Specialized Education Instructor (Special Education)

Location: Michigan, United States; virtual instruction for K–12 students with an active Michigan special education teaching license or certification.

Compensation: Starts at $36/hour for Michigan 1099 opportunities.

What you will do

• Provide legally compliant specially designed instruction and compensatory education services to K–12 students with active IEPs.
• Develop and deliver individualized, data-driven lessons covering reading, literacy, foundational math, executive functioning, organizational strategies, and adaptive life skills.
• Create, manage, and monitor student IEPs, including case management responsibilities.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, students, and other IEP team members to coordinate services and adapt instruction.
• Conduct screenings, progress monitoring, and formal outcome assessments to guide instructional decisions.

Requirements

• Active Michigan special education teaching license or certification required.
• School-based experience delivering specially designed instruction to diverse student populations.
• Experience in resource/inclusion settings or self-contained classrooms serving students with mild to moderate or profound/severe disabilities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with IEP teams, teachers, parents, and students.
• Proficiency with virtual service delivery, meeting platforms, and instructional technology.
• Dedicated private workspace, secure high-speed internet, reliable computer, and webcam.
