TL;DR
Thermal Design Engineer IV (Spacecraft) (Thermal Desktop/CAD): Designing and analyzing thermal systems for complex spacecraft and payloads from component through full-system level with an accent on electronic component integration, FEM-based modeling, and thermal closure. Focus on developing concepts through verification and validation, transitioning designs to rate production, and balancing thermal performance, cost, and schedule requirements.

Location: Louisville, Colorado; must be local to the work location, with occasional telework available

Salary: $101,175.06–$175,923.79 annually

hirify.global is a federal government contractor whose Orion Space Solutions business develops engineering solutions for spacecraft and payloads.

What you will do

  • Design and analyze thermal systems for complex spacecraft and payloads from component through subsystem and full-system levels.
  • Design thermal integration for processors, power supplies, cameras, optical assemblies, and other electronic components.
  • Ensure thermal designs close properly while meeting technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Perform FEM-based thermal model analysis using Thermal Desktop and develop CAD-based designs.
  • Develop preliminary concepts through verification and validation and transition designs to rate production.
  • Collaborate with avionics, mechanical, structural, program management, and AI&T teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering or computation field with 8–10 years of professional thermal engineering experience; equivalent paths include an MS with 6–8 years or a PhD with 3–5 years.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the space industry.
  • Experience with Thermal Desktop, CAD modeling, and basic thermal principles.
  • Must be local to the Louisville, Colorado work location.
  • No security clearance is required.

Nice to have

  • Mechanical engineering design experience using SolidWorks.
