Prelim/Prepress Operator 1

Location: Timonium, Maryland, United States; onsite, 1st shift

Salary: $19.01–$27.18 per hour

What you will do

• Review client electronic files for completeness before plate making.
• Use desktop publishing software to format print jobs for the required paper dimensions.
• Set page layouts for folds, trims, bleeds, and grippers, adding crop marks and color bars as needed.
• Identify file and production issues and coordinate solutions with customer service, customers, and production personnel.
• Load files to the prepress server and create electronic images and manufacturing proofs for press and bindery operators.
• Prepare color proofs for customer review when required.

Requirements

• Experience with files for digital or lithographic presses is preferred.
• Ability to use graphic design and layout software on Mac and PC systems.
• Knowledge of PDF, TIFF, and EPS formats across different operating systems.
• Basic color management skills and the ability to output files to various devices.
• Understanding of offset printing and color interactions.
• Mechanical skills with small hand tools for minor repairs and maintenance of scanners, imagesetters, and film-processing equipment.
